- April 6: Sea offensive and Japanese air agaisnst the offshore fleet begins
- April 7: Battle at East China Sea. The Japanese ship Yamato is attacked and sinks
- April 9: By now the 7th and 96th infantry have taken over Cactus Ridge, Red Hill, Trianglation Hill, and Tomb Hill. Divison opens arracks against Kakazu line
- April 12: Ushijimia orders attack to regain Yomitan and Kadena airfileds. Japanese advance North
- April 13/14: Japanese launch a series of attacks but do not succeed
- April 24: Japanese defenders withdraw from the outer Shuri line. Take defense of Shuri and Naha
- April 26: Buckner orders attack on Shuri line. Attack lasts 4 weeks
- May 4 - 6: Kamikazes attack US naval shipping
- May 21: By now key enemy defense points have fallen. The points being Gaja, Asato, Kochi, Dakeshi Ridge, Wana Ridge, and Ishimmi Ridge
- May 31: Shuri fully occupated by Americans
- June 1: American attack against Japanese defense line stretching from Gushichan to Itoman
- June 4: Chinen Peninsula taken over by Americans
- June 6 - 11: Battle occurs at Hangusuku
- June 10: 7th and 96th divisions attack defensive center Tuza and Yaeju - Dake
- June 17: Buckner sends message to Ushijima telling him to surrender
- June 21: End of Battle of Okinawa
